My daughter-in-law, Kim is due next month and she was going to have the baby in her home town. As she was leaving next week, my husband and I decided to arrange a baby shower for her. We asked her if she would love a party and she said a big yes. She loves parties. We used to host a lot of parties when we were a lot younger, but now things are not so easy anymore, but since Kim is more than just an in-law, we wanted to make it special and memorable for her. This is our first grandchild and we have reason to be excited and we don't want to leave any stone unturned to make it the best party ever.
We decided to have the baby shower over the weekend at our beach house in Florida, almost all the family members and friends turned up. Kim's friends were also coming down for a visit for the weekend, so that was ideal. It was great, we had barbecue, grilled chicken, chicken fingers, lasagna, meat sausages, shrimps, take out pizzas and lots more. It was all ordered from the local caterer and the food was great. We even ordered for the best party supplies complementing the theme of the party, if you think we went a bit extravagant, well it is our first baby shower (for a grandchild), so we wanted it to be a bit indulgent. We had plenty of cocktails and other snacks to keep us going late into the night. Well, Kim retired early, she gets tired these days and sleeps early.
What is the meaning of conducting a party if there is no one to take professional photos? We were able to contact a photographer who specializes in maternity photography. I had some photos taken when I was pregnant, but not even one photo came out well, as we tried to do on our own. So this time I spared no expenses in getting the best for Kim. I interviewed 3-4 photographers and looked at the samples before I hired one.
The party was a massive success. It was quite different from the traditional baby showers we had in my time. And we all shared stories of our pregnancies; funny ones of course. Kim was so beautiful, she wore the new dress I bought for her just the day before. I am sure my son fell in love with her all over again. The photos came out well that I am going to take a few blow ups of her maternity photos and set it up in her room. I am sure she is going to love it.
